Client’s have the advantage that Mr Gerry Swindale the Founder and Managing Director of Thrust Floors is also Chairman – Technical Committee of the National Wood Flooring Association of Australia (NWFAA) for the part 18 years has also been elected as it’s President.
As such Mr Swindale has the unique experience of knowing what is a “Quality” product and what is not a “quality” product.
On the basis of this experience, there is around 60 manufacturers whose products are “available” in Australia, but which do not get inside the Thrust Floors Showcase.
In “high humidity” environment, Engineered Wood Floors offer far greater “stability” in a Timber Floor System than traditional “Solid” Hardwood Flooring, especially when using “wide” timber floor boards or “wide” plank flooring.

Indeed their specialised Sprung Hardwood Flooring System, the “Air-Thrust” Hardwood Timber Flooring System that uses a “cushion-of-air” construction to generate its unique and totally “common” Sprung Floor Response, is sought after everywhere, in which outstanding performance, exceptional life and unique body protection is necessary within the design of an Engineered Hardwood Flooring System.
This is because of the Plywood Style Construction, where cross-directionally laid layers of timber make the product much more “stable” and resistant to “cupping” or “curling” than might be the case in using a Solid Hardwood Flooring System in the same environment.
Engineered Timber Flooring and Engineered Wood Flooring also offer the construction advantage that they are “pre-finished”.
Indeed most of the “High Quality” Engineered Timber Flooring Systems come complete with up to seven (7) coats of the latest science in coating technology which is a German “Polyacril” finish. This finish is applied as a “curtain coating” in which the Engineered Timber Flooring passes under a “waterfall” of coating material, for seven (7) passes before being fully U.V. Cured in the manufacturing process. This means that what is installed today can facilitate a party on it tonight !
Some of the most outstanding of our “high profile” commercial installations have been the Star City Casino – “Fortunes Restaurant” where for almost 12 years these floor stood up to the daily pressure of between 3,000-4,000 people, twice a day, seven days a week. This traffic translates into the normal domestic situation as the equivalent to like 300 years in your home !
Similarly the “Readyflor” Engineered Wood Flooring including Engineered Oak Flooring was installed in the Kinakunya Japanese Book Store in the Victorian Galleries complex in the central CBD of Sydney in 1998. That is 23 years of unbelievable traffic to date, in a building that is open to the public up to 10 p.m. every night of the week. Unbelievable performance that has even “shocked” us !
We had our floating floor installed by the the team at thrust floors and had no problems it’s over 5 yrs old now and we have no complaints.
